Woman Killed in Howard County Crash; Four Suspects Fled Scene, Police Say

A woman died following a multi-vehicle crash Friday afternoon in Jessup, Howard County, Maryland. Authorities say four juvenile males fled on foot from a stolen Hyundai Sonata involved in the collision.

According to police, the crash occurred shortly after 3 p.m. when the eastbound Hyundai crossed the double yellow line on Guilford Road in an attempt to pass a Tesla turning left onto Twelve Sons Court. The Hyundai sideswiped both the Tesla and a Honda Fit before crashing head-on into a Honda Civic.

The driver of the Civic, 69-year-old Bonnie Fuller Griffith of Columbia, was transported to Howard County General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

One of the juveniles in the Hyundai was injured in the crash and taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in serious but stable condition. The remaining three juveniles fled and are still being sought by police.

Guilford Road remained closed for about four hours following the incident. The investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been filed at this time.
