Westminster Resident Taken Into Custody for Illegal Drug Possession

Authorities in Carroll County have apprehended a Westminster resident accused of trafficking illegal narcotics. The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Jason Samuel Davis, was arrested during a traffic stop conducted last Thursday near the intersection of Maryland Routes 140 and 91. Deputies deployed a K-9 unit to inspect the vehicle, and the dog alerted officers to the presence of narcotics. Upon searching the vehicle, investigators discovered approximately 45 grams of cocaine and 48 fentanyl capsules weighing around 23 grams.

Further investigation revealed that Davis was already wanted on an active warrant for first-degree assault. In addition to the existing warrant, he now faces multiple charges, including possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, two counts of possession, and two counts of possessing contraband in a place of confinement. Following his arrest, Davis was taken into custody and is currently being held without bond, pending further court proceedings.

Shortly after the traffic stop, members of the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office Crisis Response Team executed a search and seizure warrant at Davis’ residence located at 186 West Main Street, Apartment B, Westminster. During the search, detectives uncovered an additional 21 grams of cocaine, along with digital scales and drug paraphernalia commonly associated with narcotics distribution.

Authorities estimate that the total quantity of drugs seized from both the traffic stop and subsequent search amounts to approximately 89 grams. The investigation and arrest were part of a coordinated operation involving multiple agencies, including the Carroll County State’s Attorney’s Office, the Sheriff’s Office Drug and Firearms Task Force, and the Pro-Active Community Enforcement Unit, which consists of personnel from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Westminster Police Department, and Taneytown Police Department.

Law enforcement officials emphasized that this joint effort underscores their continued commitment to combating drug trafficking and keeping dangerous narcotics off the streets of Carroll County.
