A Hagerstown man is being held without bond after his arrest in connection with crimes against a minor.
According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, 25-year-old Rahmier Hassan Chase has been charged with sexual solicitation of a minor, two counts of second-degree assault, and two counts of displaying obscene material to a minor. Investigators say the incidents occurred between July and August 2025. Chase is currently being held at the Washington County Detention Center.
The Sheriff’s Office emphasized the dangers children face online, noting that predators often use games, apps, chats, and social media to approach minors. These individuals may pose as friends, offer compliments, give gifts or money, and encourage children to keep secrets—gradually pushing boundaries until the situation becomes unsafe, officials explained.
Parents are urged to maintain open communication with their children about their online interactions, monitor privacy settings on apps and games, and remind kids never to share personal information or photos with people they only know online.
“Our kids deserve to feel safe online just as much as they do in the real world,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement, stressing that early and ongoing conversations are one of the best safeguards. Authorities also encouraged parents to set clear boundaries and stay actively involved in their children’s digital lives.
