Walkersville Man Charged with Attempted Kidnapping, Assault, and DUI

WALKERSVILLE, Md. — A 55-year-old Walkersville resident, Gary Lee Plummer, has been charged with attempted kidnapping, attempted child abduction, two counts of second-degree assault, and driving under the influence.

The charges stem from an incident on Wednesday around 3 p.m., when a Maryland State Police trooper conducted a traffic stop on a red Ford Taurus along the 8700 block of Woodsboro Pike. The trooper noticed signs that Plummer was impaired and subsequently arrested him for DUI.

Shortly after the arrest, police received a report of an attempted child abduction in the same vicinity. Two young girls reported that a man, later identified as Plummer, approached them and tried to pull one of them into his vehicle but failed.

Plummer is currently being held at the Frederick County Detention Center.

Authorities are continuing the investigation and urge anyone with information to contact the Maryland State Police Frederick Barrack at 301-600-4151. Callers may remain anonymous.
