USPS Truck Goes Up in Flames in Montgomery Village

Fire Likely Started in Engine Compartment of USPS Truck in Montgomery Village

MONTGOMERY VILLAGE, Md. — A U.S. Postal Service truck caught fire Thursday morning in Montgomery Village, prompting a response from Montgomery County Fire and Rescue.

Fire crews arrived around 11 a.m. to the 20300 block of ButterWick Way, near East Village Avenue. Two units quickly extinguished the flames, and no injuries were reported, officials said.

The truck sustained significant damage, with photos showing the front, including the engine, completely destroyed, while the rear section remained largely intact.

Officials believe the fire started in the engine compartment but have not confirmed whether anyone was inside at the time. It is also unclear if the truck was carrying mail or if any was damaged.
