HOWARD COUNTY, Md. — Police are investigating a fatal double shooting inside a Howard County home early Monday morning.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 3 a.m. at a residence in the 6300 block of Red Haven Road. Upon arrival, they found a man sitting in a parked car outside the home with a gun. Inside, officers discovered two victims, later identified as 78-year-old Jack Dee Stokes and 65-year-old Barbara Stokes, both fatally shot.
Investigators determined that the suspect, 33-year-old DiAngelo Smith, was related to the victims and shot them before going outside to sit in his car. Police arrested Smith at the scene and confirmed that he lived in the home with his grandparents.
The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation.
