Two Overnight Crashes in Maryland Result in 2 Deaths and 8 Hospitalizations

Early Friday morning, a fiery crash on Interstate 270 in Montgomery County, Maryland, claimed one life and left four others hospitalized. The collision occurred around 4:15 a.m. in the southbound lanes near Old Georgetown Road, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson Pete Piringer.

The crash involved two vehicles, one of which caught fire. A person trapped inside the burning car was pronounced dead at the scene, while four others were transported to the hospital. The incident closed all southbound lanes of I-270 for several hours.

In a separate incident in Prince George’s County just after midnight, another crash left one person dead and four injured. The collision occurred near Old Fort Road and Indian Head Highway. Prince George’s County police reported that one driver was taken to the hospital but did not survive. The other driver and three passengers sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash shut down northbound lanes of Indian Head Highway between Fort Washington Road and Old Fort Road. By 6:30 a.m., the highway had reopened.
