Two Frederick teenagers taken into custody in connection with an armed robbery

Two teenagers from Frederick, Maryland, are facing adult criminal charges in connection with an armed robbery that occurred late last year, according to the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office. The case stems from an investigation into a violent incident that took place on September 27, 2025, in the 5500 block of Foxhall Court.

Investigators reported that the robbery involved the use of a handgun and resulted in physical injury to the victim. Authorities stated that during the incident, the victim was struck in the face with the firearm, causing an assault in addition to the robbery. Following the attack, detectives launched an extensive investigation to identify those responsible for the crime.

Through the course of the investigation, law enforcement officials identified two suspects believed to be involved in the incident. After gathering sufficient evidence, detectives obtained arrest warrants for both individuals. On January 6, deputies took 17-year-olds Albert Cambara and Gerardo Cervantes, both residents of Frederick, into custody. Despite being minors, the suspects were charged as adults due to the serious and violent nature of the alleged offenses.

After their arrests, the two teenagers were transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center, where they are being held pending further legal proceedings. As part of the investigation, detectives also executed search warrants at the suspects’ residences, located on Wild Fig Court and Manor Court. During those searches, authorities recovered a Glock handgun equipped with an extended magazine. Investigators believe the firearm may be connected to the armed robbery.

Both Cambara and Cervantes are facing multiple charges, including armed robbery, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and additional related offenses. Law enforcement officials emphasized that charging the suspects as adults reflects the severity of the alleged crime and the use of a firearm during the incident.

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the case and is encouraging anyone with additional information related to the robbery to come forward. Officials stated that community cooperation is an important part of ensuring accountability and public safety. Further court proceedings will determine the outcome of the charges against the two suspects as the case moves through the judicial system.
