Medical Examiner Identifies Remains as Hispanic Male in Late Teens
GAITHERSBURG, Md. — Montgomery County police are seeking the public’s help in identifying human remains discovered by a hiker in Rock Creek Regional Park.
According to a medical examiner, the remains belong to a Hispanic male estimated to be in his late teens and approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall. As of Wednesday, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner had not yet determined an official cause of death.
Police released photos of several clothing items found with the body, including a winter hat, a jacket, a shirt, and shoes — believed to have belonged to the teen.
The remains were found on March 1 after a hiker came across a human skull in the wooded area and contacted authorities. Officers responded to the scene and located additional bones along with clothing, but no form of identification was recovered.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call Montgomery County Police at 301-279-8000.
