HOWARD COUNTY, Md. — A Maryland man lost his life in a crash on I-70, reportedly caused by a 17-year-old driving a stolen vehicle.
Maryland State Police responded to the scene on Monday, where they identified the victim as Fred Eromosele Ehimen, the driver of a Toyota Camry.
Investigators say the teenager, driving a 2013 Ford Explorer from Baltimore, was traveling in the wrong direction on I-70 when he collided head-on with Ehimen.
Inside the teen’s vehicle were two passengers, ages 13 and 16. The driver was airlifted to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma, while the two passengers were taken to local hospitals. Their conditions remain unknown.
Ehimen was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities revealed that the Ford had been reported stolen, and a Frederick County Sheriff’s Deputy had attempted a traffic stop before the crash. The teen refused to stop, prompting a pursuit that ended several miles before the collision.
The investigation remains ongoing.
