Taneytown Resident Taken Into Custody in Connection with Sunoco Gas Station Break-In

Taneytown, MD (JK) – Authorities in Taneytown have arrested a local man in connection with a late-night burglary at a gas station earlier this month. The incident occurred at the Sunoco station located on East Baltimore Street and resulted in multiple criminal charges.

According to police reports, officers responded to a burglary alarm at approximately 11:50 p.m. on February 8. Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement discovered that the store’s front glass door had been shattered. A review of surveillance footage allegedly showed a male suspect breaking the glass, entering the business, and removing an envelope containing $277 in cash along with a package of cigarettes before leaving the area on foot.

Investigators conducted a follow-up review of video evidence and gathered information from witnesses in the area. After further investigation, including the execution of a search warrant at a residence believed to be connected to the case, officers identified Robert Andrew Bloom of Taneytown as the suspect. An arrest warrant was subsequently issued.

Bloom was taken into custody on February 16 without incident and transported to the Carroll County Detention Center for processing. He now faces charges including second-degree burglary, fourth-degree burglary, theft between $100 and $1,500, and malicious destruction of property valued under $1,000.

Law enforcement officials emphasized that burglary and property crimes remain a priority for local authorities, and they encourage business owners to maintain active security systems and surveillance measures. The investigation into the break-in remains ongoing, and anyone with additional information is urged to contact local police.
