A 17-year-old male from Silver Spring has been charged after allegedly making a bomb threat against a Rockville medical office, prompting a large emergency response and building evacuation.
According to officials, the incident occurred on Thursday, October 23, 2025, when Rockville Internal Medicine (RIM), located in the 1200 block of Seven Locks Road, received two alarming phone calls just minutes apart—one at 9:40 a.m. and another at 9:42 a.m. Investigators believe both calls came from the same individual, who claimed there was an explosive device inside the building.
The threat triggered an immediate evacuation of staff and patients, while multiple agencies—including the Montgomery County Department of Police, Rockville City Police, and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue—responded to the scene. Their primary goal was to determine whether the threat was credible and ensure that no one in the surrounding community was in danger. After a thorough search and safety assessment, authorities determined that the bomb threat was unfounded.
The Montgomery County Department of Police’s Behavioral Assessment and Administrative Unit took charge of the investigation. Through their efforts, detectives identified a 17-year-old male as the individual allegedly responsible for making the threatening calls.
The teen now faces several serious charges, including threats of mass violence, telephone misuse, threats of arson, and providing false statements related to a destructive device or hazardous material. Because of his age, the case will proceed through the Department of Juvenile Services, which will determine the appropriate legal disposition.
Although the threat proved to be false, officials emphasized the substantial risks and disruptions caused by such incidents. The investigation underscores law enforcement’s commitment to responding swiftly to threats and holding individuals accountable for actions that endanger or alarm the community.
