Professional Organizer Arrested for Allegedly Stealing from Client; Police Seek Additional Victims

A Gaithersburg man has been charged in connection with an alleged home theft scheme after authorities say he stole valuables from clients who hired him as a professional organizer in Montgomery County, Maryland. The case has prompted investigators to urge other potential victims to come forward.

According to the Montgomery County Department of Police, 27-year-old Aissa Mahdi Ould Brahim faces one count of theft involving property valued between $25,000 and under $100,000. Detectives allege that Brahim unlawfully took items from homes where he had been contracted to provide professional organizing services.

The investigation began after a Bethesda homeowner reported missing jewelry on January 22. The woman told police she had left her residence around 3 p.m. to pick up her child, leaving Brahim alone in the home while he folded and organized clothing. When she returned later that day, she noticed he had already left. Shortly afterward, she realized that a gold necklace was missing and contacted authorities to file a report.

Detectives identified Brahim as a suspect during the course of their investigation. Police allege that the stolen necklace was later sold through Facebook Marketplace. After learning the jewelry had been reported stolen, the buyer cooperated with authorities and returned the necklace to its rightful owner.

Investigators believe the necklace was not the only item taken from the home. Police say additional property—including clothing items, gift cards, and cash—was also stolen during the January 22 incident. After executing a search warrant at Brahim’s residence, officers reportedly recovered more items believed to be linked to the thefts.

Brahim was arrested on February 4 and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. He has since been released on a $7,500 unsecured personal bond pending further court proceedings.

Authorities believe there may be additional victims who hired Brahim for home organizing services and may not yet realize property is missing. Police are encouraging anyone who may have employed him and suspects theft to contact Crime Solvers of Montgomery County through its website or by phone. The investigation into the alleged Montgomery County home thefts remains ongoing.
