BELTSVILLE, Md. — A Beltsville resident is facing numerous felony charges after authorities say he possessed and attempted to acquire child sexual abuse material.
Maryland State Police have identified the suspect as 41-year-old Edwin Antonio Valdez Olivar. He has been charged with seven counts each of possessing, accessing, and viewing child pornography, as well as seven felony counts related to the attempted production of such material.
According to investigators, Valdez Olivar began communicating with undercover Maryland State Police Computer Crimes troopers in December 2024. During these conversations, he allegedly discussed having and watching child sexual abuse content and was reportedly receiving this material on his cell phone.
Valdez Olivar was taken into custody on Thursday with assistance from the Prince George’s County Police and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
