Police say suspects targeted multiple pizza restaurants across Montgomery County in robbery spree

Two D.C. Men Charged in Series of Armed Robberies Targeting Montgomery County Pizza Restaurants

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — Two Washington, D.C. men have been arrested and charged after allegedly robbing multiple pizza restaurants across Montgomery County over the course of a week.

Montgomery County Police identified the suspects as 22-year-old Terrance Barfield and 18-year-old Jaylen Cunningham. Both men face charges of armed robbery, motor vehicle theft, and related offenses.

Investigators say the pair is responsible for four armed robberies that occurred between September 23 and October 1.

Their arrests came after members of the department’s Special Assignment Team observed Barfield and Cunningham entering a Manny & Olga’s Pizza on Woodmont Avenue around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. Officers had been conducting surveillance in the Bethesda business district when they noticed the suspects arrive in a silver Hyundai Tucson — a vehicle reported stolen in Prince George’s County the previous day.

The two were taken into custody shortly after near Jones Bridge Road and Grier Road in Chevy Chase. When officers returned to the restaurant, employees reported that a robbery had just occurred.

According to witnesses, two men entered the store, with one implying he had a weapon while demanding cash from the register before fleeing with the money.

Police believe Barfield and Cunningham are connected to the following robberies:

  • Domino’s Pizza, 4817 St. Elmo Avenue, Bethesda (September 23)

  • Pizza Hut, 12335 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring (September 28)

  • Papa John’s, 7200 47th Street, Chevy Chase (October 1)

  • Manny & Olga’s Pizza, Woodmont Avenue, Bethesda (October 2)

Both suspects are being held without bond as the investigation continues.
