An apparent overdose case has now become a homicide investigation.
WASHINGTON — Authorities are now treating the death of a woman in Pasadena, Maryland, as a homicide.
Police responded to the 1200 block of Lorene Court shortly after 6 a.m. on April 4 for a reported overdose. Upon arrival, officers found drug-related evidence but also signs of a possible physical assault.
The victim, 34-year-old Heather Elizabeth Beaver, was transported to a nearby hospital with critical injuries and later died. An autopsy performed in Baltimore by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that she died from blunt force trauma. It remains unclear whether any substances were in her system at the time of death.
The case has now been handed over to homicide detectives. No arrests or suspects have been named yet.
Investigators are asking anyone who had contact with or saw Beaver between April 1 and April 4 to contact police at 410-222-4731.
