Police arrest group caught ‘bearhugging’ merchandise and fleeing Lululemon store

Four individuals, including three adults and one teenager, have been arrested for a series of high-value retail thefts after stealing over $10,000 worth of merchandise from a Lululemon store in Gaithersburg.

Mone Herndon, 26, Shawn Stewart, 26, Precious Spivey, 18, and a 17-year-old, all from D.C., are facing felony theft charges related to their involvement in multiple thefts.

On February 19, officers were monitoring the Lululemon store as part of an ongoing investigation when they observed the group entering the store. The suspects split up, grabbed multiple items, and attempted to leave without paying. One suspect was caught, while the others fled but were later apprehended near a nearby grocery store. They were found carrying over $10,000 worth of stolen goods.

Further investigation revealed the group had committed another theft at a Bath & Body Works in Germantown, where they stole over $1,500 worth of items. Authorities also linked them to previous thefts at the same Lululemon and a LensCrafters store in Gaithersburg.

Herndon, Stewart, and Spivey were taken to the Montgomery County Detention Center, while the 17-year-old was released to their parents. Bond details were not immediately available.
