KENSINGTON, Md. — A woman was killed after being hit by a U.S. Postal Service truck late Wednesday morning, leading to major road closures and an active police investigation in Montgomery County.
Montgomery County Police say the incident occurred around 10:40 a.m. at the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and Plyers Mill Road. Officers arrived to find the woman seriously injured; she was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later died.
The vehicle involved was confirmed to be a USPS mail truck. The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
Connecticut Avenue has been closed in both directions at Plyers Mill Road while crash reconstruction crews examine the scene. Police are urging drivers to avoid the area and use alternate routes due to significant traffic delays.
As of now, no charges have been filed. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name, pending notification of her family.
