Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives with the Montgomery County Police Department’s 5th District have arrested 44-year-old Nicholas Lloyd of Germantown in connection with a shooting that took place on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, in the 20000 block of Shadyside Way.
Officers were dispatched to the scene around 11:51 p.m. following reports of gunfire.
Investigators determined the incident stemmed from a continuing conflict involving multiple individuals. Around 10 p.m., three adult men and one adult woman were outside Lloyd’s residence when, in response to the ongoing dispute, Lloyd allegedly fired a rifle from his balcony at the group—hitting three of the four people.
After the shooting, Lloyd reportedly left his home to assist one of the wounded men, who was later taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Another male victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was also hospitalized with injuries not considered life-threatening. The third man was treated at the scene for a grazing wound and released. The woman present was not injured.
Police recovered the rifle used in the shooting and arrested Lloyd. He was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit and charged with:

Lloyd is currently being held without bond.
