One teenager died and one more is fighting for his life after a car crash in Springdale, Maryland, on Friday early morning, authorities say.
Jason Peraza, of Lanham, was killed, cops stated in an upgrade Monday. He was 17.
At concerning 8 a.m., 911 phone calls started coming in to report a violent collision in the 9100 block of Ardwick Ardmore Roadway, not far from the Capital Beltway.
Cellular phone video caught the frantic moments after the cars and truck was wrapped around a telephone pole and next-door neighbors and first -responders tried to rescue the two individuals inside. Tramesse Gillis said she saw the after-effects of the collision.
“I ran out and saw everyone gathered, trying to help, I think, the initial kid out,” she claimed.
First responders found one teenager caught in the car. He did not survive. A second teenager was rushed to a health center with life-threatening injuries.
Ardwick Ardmore Roadway is a four-lane road with a 30 miles per hour speed limit. Charles Herbert Flowers Senior High School is near the crash website. Summer season school was in session on Friday. A spokesperson for Prince George’s Region Public Schools might not validate whether the teens in the cars and truck had been headed there.
Individuals who stay in the location claimed road safety is a major issue and that they routinely see speeding and accidents.
“I’m scared for the children who need to go to school on a daily basis,” Gillis stated.
