MONTGOMERY VILLAGE, Md. — Fire crews responded to a significant townhouse fire in Montgomery Village early Friday morning, shortly before 4 a.m.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue arrived at 10200 Cove Ledge Court, near Watkins Mill Road, where flames were visible from the rear of a three-story townhouse, according to department spokesperson Pete Piringer. Due to the size of the fire, a second alarm was issued around 4:17 a.m., bringing additional firefighters to assist. Approximately 75 firefighters responded to the scene.
Several individuals were rescued from the building, and firefighters helped others evacuate safely. Crews conducted thorough searches to ensure no one was left inside. All 22 residents were accounted for, and no injuries were reported.
By 4:20 a.m., most visible flames had been extinguished, though firefighters continued working to eliminate remaining hotspots.
Seven families have been displaced by the fire, and emergency responders provided temporary shelter using department buses. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
