Montgomery County Firefighter Dies Responding to Prince George’s County House Fire
A Montgomery County firefighter tragically passed away after responding to a house fire in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
The 46-year-old firefighter, a 22-year veteran of the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, collapsed while battling a fire in a Laurel home around 5 p.m. on Saturday.
Montgomery County Fire Chief Corey Smedley stated that the firefighter experienced a medical emergency during the incident on the 15000 block of Bradford Drive, prompting immediate CPR efforts. The firefighter was transported to Adventist HealthCare White Oak Medical Center in Silver Spring, where he was pronounced dead. His cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner.
Chief Smedley did not release the firefighter’s name on Saturday.
Acting Prince George’s County Executive Tara Jackson expressed her condolences to the firefighter’s family and extended prayers for all first responders. She highlighted the mutual aid collaboration, noting that over 50 firefighters from Prince George’s, Montgomery, and Howard counties worked together at the scene.
Prince George’s County pledged continued support for the grieving firefighters and their departments during this difficult time.
