According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a Blue Alert was issued shortly before 4 p.m. in connection with the deadly incident in Highlandville, located in Christian County. Law enforcement officials identified the suspect vehicle as a white 2001 Chevrolet Silverado extended cab pickup truck bearing Missouri license plate 9MGX36. Investigators reported that the vehicle was observed near the scene of the shooting and was last seen traveling southbound on U.S. Route 160 from Route HH in Christian County. U.S. 160 runs through southern Missouri and extends into north-central Arkansas east of Harrison, raising concerns that the suspect could cross state lines.
The pickup truck has several distinguishing features, including a silver brush guard, a rusted roof, black body trim, tinted rear windows, and a three-ball hitch. As of the latest update, authorities have not released a physical description of the suspect. Officials are strongly advising members of the public not to approach the vehicle if spotted and to contact 911 immediately, as the suspect is considered potentially armed and dangerous.
The fatal shooting has prompted an outpouring of condolences from Missouri leaders. U.S. Senator Josh Hawley expressed his sympathies, stating that he and his wife were praying for the deputy’s family and calling for swift justice. U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt described the incident as a devastating loss for Christian County and voiced support for law enforcement officers working to apprehend the suspect.
