A teenager has been charged with murder after a Prince George’s County police officer witnessed a fatal shooting at a gas station in Forestville. The victim, identified as 39-year-old Leo Addison, was shot and later died at the hospital.
The incident took place on Tuesday night around 10:30 p.m. when an officer, stationed near the intersection of Marlboro Pike and Forestville Road, heard gunshots coming from a nearby gas station. According to police, the officer saw the 16-year-old suspect firing a handgun in the parking lot.
As soon as the shots were fired, the teenager attempted to flee the scene. However, the officer acted quickly, apprehending the suspect and recovering the firearm used in the shooting. Emergency responders transported Addison to a nearby hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
During the initial investigation, authorities determined that an argument had taken place between Addison and the teen moments before the shooting. While the exact details of their dispute remain unclear, police have stated that there is no known prior connection between the two individuals.
The suspect, whose identity has not been released due to his age, is now facing charges of first-degree murder. He is currently being held in the custody of the Department of Corrections as the investigation continues.
