Maryland State Police arrested two men in their 70s on Thursday for allegedly brandishing firearms during separate road rage incidents on highways.
A 70-year-old College Park resident was taken into custody after troopers responded to a report on Wednesday about an armed road rage incident on Route 1 in Prince George’s County. While details of the incident were not immediately released, police obtained a search warrant and seized a loaded handgun from his home. He was arrested at his residence, where officers found a vehicle matching the description provided in the report parked in his driveway. The man faces charges of first- and second-degree assault, along with other related offenses, and had not yet appeared in district court as of Thursday night.
In a separate case near Baltimore, Maryland State Police arrested a 71-year-old man on Tuesday for allegedly pulling out a gun while driving on I-695. Like the College Park suspect, troopers executed a search warrant at his home and confiscated a loaded handgun. He was also charged with first- and second-degree assault, as well as gun-related offenses.
Police reported no injuries in either incident.
