Man found shot dead at Ft. Washington shopping center

Police in Prince George’s County, Maryland are still trying to track down a suspect after a deadly shooting at a shopping center in Fort Washington early Wednesday morning. The incident has now turned into an active homicide investigation, and detectives are working to figure out exactly what happened and who is responsible.

According to the Prince George’s County Police Department, officers were called to the Hunters Mill Center in the 9500 block of Livingston Road around 2:35 a.m. after reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found an adult man lying on the ground suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released his name, saying they are waiting to notify his family first.

Not long after patrol officers arrived, homicide detectives came to take over the investigation. Through the early morning hours, investigators gathered evidence, looked for witnesses, and checked surveillance cameras from nearby businesses in the shopping center. They are now working to piece together a clear timeline of what led up to the shooting. At this point, it’s still unclear whether the victim was specifically targeted or if the violence was random.

So far, no arrests have been announced, and police have not shared a description of a suspect. Officials say the case is still very active, and detectives are following up on every lead they can. They are asking anyone who may have seen or heard something unusual in the area around that time to come forward.

The shooting has understandably left many Fort Washington residents feeling uneasy. Police are urging community members who were near the Hunters Mill Center during the early morning hours to contact Prince George’s County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. Anyone who calls can remain anonymous.

Investigators stress that tips from the public can make a big difference in cases like this. As detectives continue their work, more updates are expected to be released.
