A man from Prince George’s County has been arrested and charged in connection with the murder of his girlfriend, whose body was discovered wrapped in plastic and partially encased in concrete inside her Suitland home.
Police responded to an apartment on Ewing Avenue on April 24 after receiving a missing person report for 44-year-old Sherron Turner, who hadn’t been seen since April 21. A witness told authorities they heard loud banging and screaming from the apartment on the last night Turner was known to be alive.
Inside the apartment, officers found Turner’s body in the living room, wrapped in plastic and blankets and partially covered with concrete. She showed signs of trauma to her face, back, and neck. A medical examiner determined she died from a fractured neck bone.
Witnesses described Turner’s relationship with 38-year-old Michael McClanahan as toxic and said he was frequently at her apartment. Though Turner had not been seen since April 21, McClanahan was observed coming and going from her home and using her car.
While police were at the apartment investigating, Turner’s vehicle arrived nearby. The driver fled into Washington, D.C., before officers could intervene.
The next day, McClanahan was arrested in D.C. on an unrelated assault charge. Police say he was carrying Turner’s license plates and receipts from Home Depot for items like bags of concrete and pry bars — tools matching those discovered at the crime scene.
McClanahan now faces charges of first- and second-degree murder, along with a count related to attempting to dispose of Turner’s body. He remains in custody in D.C., where he is also facing separate charges.
