LAUREL, Md. — More than 47 vehicles were broken into early Sunday morning during a spree of overnight thefts across the city of Laurel. Police say additional incidents were reported in nearby areas, sparking an ongoing investigation and an appeal to the public for assistance.
Authorities say the suspects—who have not yet been identified—stole various items from inside the vehicles. While many of the cars were left unlocked, others appeared to have been forcibly entered through broken windows or tampered locks.
Police are asking residents to review footage from security or doorbell cameras captured between late Saturday night and early Sunday morning. Any videos showing suspicious activity or unknown vehicles could provide critical leads.
To assist the investigation, the Laurel Police Department has created a public evidence submission portal where residents can upload relevant photos or video.
Tips can also be shared by calling the department’s non-emergency line or anonymously through their tip system.
Officers continue to canvas affected neighborhoods, collect surveillance footage, and contact victims to determine the full extent of the thefts and property loss.
In the meantime, police are reminding the public to lock their cars, hide valuables, and consider installing motion-sensor lights or cameras for added security.
