A man from La Plata, Maryland, has been arrested and charged with murder after authorities say he fatally shot his 15-year-old stepson during a dispute over unfinished household chores.
Deputies from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office responded to the home of 48-year-old Darshan Williams on the 6400 block of Huntt Road shortly after midnight on Wednesday following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found Williams standing outside.
Inside the home, deputies discovered Michael Clemons, Williams’ stepson, who had been shot and was unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Williams became upset with Clemons because the teenager hadn’t completed some chores, which led to the tragic incident.
Williams was arrested and faces charges including first-degree murder and first-degree assault.
