A significant update has been announced in the case involving a 2024 traffic incident in Upper Marlboro that resulted in the loss of three lives. According to the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office, 25-year-old Cori Clingman has pleaded guilty to three counts of negligent homicide while under the influence of alcohol.
The individuals who lost their lives in the incident—Khyree Jackson, Isaiah Hazel, and Anthony Lytton Jr.—were all in their early twenties and traveling together on Pennsylvania Avenue at the time. Prosecutors noted that Clingman was also traveling in the same direction. Investigators later determined that both vehicles had been moving at high speeds before the collision occurred.
According to preliminary findings, Clingman’s vehicle made contact with another car and then entered a right lane, where it struck the vehicle carrying the three young men. The incident resulted in severe damage to the second vehicle and ultimately led to the fatalities. Authorities emphasized that excessive speed and impaired driving were contributing factors identified during the investigation.
Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Tara Jackson highlighted the importance of accountability in cases involving impaired driving. She stated that while no one intends for a serious incident to occur, the potential consequences of high-risk driving behaviors underscore the need for ongoing public awareness and responsible decision-making on the road.
Clingman is currently on home detention and is scheduled for sentencing on February 4, 2026. Each negligent homicide charge carries a potential maximum penalty of five years. Prosecutors have recommended a 15-year sentence with a significant portion suspended, resulting in a proposed period of active incarceration.
Officials hope the resolution of this case serves as a reminder of the critical importance of safe driving practices and the risks associated with operating a vehicle while impaired. The State’s Attorney’s Office continues to encourage drivers to prioritize caution and responsibility to help prevent future tragedies on Maryland roadways.
