Nicholas Peter Albanes, 42, admitted to the attack and was initially facing additional charges, including attempted kidnapping, robbery, theft under $1,500, and two counts of second-degree assault.
The incident occurred on Hillcrest Drive, where the mother and child were walking. According to authorities, Albanes exited a vehicle, grabbed the woman’s purse, and tried to seize her daughter. He then pepper-sprayed both victims before fleeing the scene.
Robbery with a dangerous weapon is a felony in Maryland, carrying a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. Albanes is scheduled for sentencing on February 18 at 9 a.m.
