Frederick man arrested for alleged active role in drug trafficking

On November 25, 2025, authorities in Frederick announced the arrest of a man they described as being heavily involved in the illegal trafficking and distribution of narcotics. The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Axel Angula Llactas, was taken into custody on Tuesday following the execution of a search warrant at his residence. The coordinated operation involved the Frederick Police Department, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, and the State’s Attorney’s Office, working together under the Maryland Criminal Intelligence Network.

The search warrant was carried out at Llactas’ home in the 5000 block of Partners Court. During the search, law enforcement officers discovered a significant quantity of illegal substances and valuable property. According to officials, investigators recovered more than 1,225.9 grams of cocaine, along with $2,599 in cash and several pieces of high-end jewelry. Authorities noted that the cocaine alone carried an estimated street value of more than $100,000, reflecting the scale of the alleged drug activity.

Following the search and seizure, Llactas was immediately arrested. He now faces multiple felony charges, including possession of a large quantity of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and possession of crack cocaine. These charges reflect what investigators believe to be ongoing and organized drug trafficking activities connected to broader criminal networks operating within the region.

Officials say the investigation into Llactas did not begin recently. The Frederick Police Department’s Tactical Investigation Unit reportedly launched the case in January 2025. From the start, the investigation was strengthened through collaboration with the Baltimore/Washington High Intensity Drug Trafficking Task Force (HIDTA), a specialized team focused on combating complex narcotics operations across the region.

Law enforcement leaders emphasized that Tuesday’s arrest is the result of months of coordinated efforts between local police, county deputies, prosecutors, and federal-linked task force members. They added that the case reflects an ongoing commitment to identifying and dismantling drug trafficking operations that threaten public safety in Frederick and surrounding communities.
