Frederick, MD (KM) – A child pornography investigation has led to the arrest of a man previously deported from the United States on two separate occasions.
Julio Alfredo Rodas Mariona, 39, was taken into custody on Monday at a residence in the 7900 block of Parkland Drive in Frederick. He is currently being held without bond at the Frederick County Detention Center.
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation began when the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The tip involved sexually explicit content shared via a social media platform, allegedly showing Rodas-Mariona engaged in a video call involving a sexual act with a child believed to be between 10 and 13 years old.
He has been charged with filming a sex act involving a minor and possession of child pornography. Authorities seized multiple electronic devices during the arrest.
Following his apprehension, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) issued a detainer for Rodas-Mariona. According to ICE, he had previously been deported from the U.S. on two prior occasions.
The Sheriff’s Office noted that ICE files detainers for individuals charged with crimes when there is probable cause to believe they are removable non-citizens. Once Rodas-Mariona’s local criminal proceedings are resolved, he will be turned over to ICE custody.
