Gaithersburg, MD (DG) – Montgomery County Police have apprehended five teenagers in connection with a string of car thefts that culminated in a crash.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, June 3, at approximately 7:30 p.m., when officers responded to a crash near Heathfield Drive and Parkland Drive. Witnesses reported seeing several teens fleeing the area. At the scene, police discovered three stolen vehicles—a Kia and two Hyundais—all left running and unoccupied.
During the investigation, officers spotted another Kia speeding away. The car stopped near Weller Road, and five teens, aged 13 to 15, exited the vehicle and were quickly arrested. That vehicle had also been reported stolen. Police recovered knives and tools commonly used to break into cars from the suspects.
Each of the five teens was charged with possessing a stolen vehicle and later released to the custody of their guardians. In total, four stolen vehicles were recovered.
