Fatal Crash on Route 30 Under Investigation

Westminster, MD (DG) – Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal multi-vehicle crash that occurred in Carroll County.

The collision took place around 7:45 a.m. on Friday along Route 30 and involved three vehicles. Investigators say a southbound Ford pickup truck crossed into the northbound lanes for unknown reasons, striking a Chevrolet dump truck. The impact caused the dump truck to crash into a Chevrolet pickup truck.

The driver of the Chevrolet pickup, 25-year-old Nicholas Standiford of Spring Grove, Pennsylvania, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the dump truck was transported to Carroll Hospital Center, where they later died.

The dump truck’s driver and another passenger were airlifted to Shock Trauma for medical treatment.

Route 30 remained closed for approximately five hours following the crash.
