Gaithersburg, MD – Montgomery County police are investigating a series of armed bank robberies in the Kensington area and are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect. Surveillance photos have been released.
The first robbery occurred on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at approximately 11:29 a.m., when officers responded to the M&T Bank on Montgomery Avenue. Investigators say the suspect entered the bank, placed a handgun on the counter, and demanded cash. The employee complied, and the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of money.
The second robbery took place on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 10:08 a.m., at the Capital One Bank on Connecticut Avenue. In this instance, the suspect brandished a handgun and again demanded money, which the employee handed over before he fled.
Detectives believe the same individual is responsible for both robberies. The suspect is described as a Black male with a dark complexion, between 50 and 60 years old, standing between 5’10” and 6 feet tall.
