Bladensburg Man Arrested for Murder, Child Abuse in Infant’s Death

GAITHERSBURG, Md. — Montgomery County Police have arrested and charged a Bladensburg man with second-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death.

Terron Christopher Matasaran, 34, was taken into custody on Tuesday and is currently being held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.

The case stems from an incident on September 23, 2024, when officers and fire rescue personnel responded to the 11600 block of Stewart Lane in Silver Spring just after 11:00 a.m. for reports of an unresponsive child. Authorities say Matasaran was babysitting a seven-month-old boy when he contacted the child’s mother, claiming the infant had fallen. The mother rushed home and called 911, performing CPR until first responders arrived. Unfortunately, the baby was pronounced dead at the scene.

The infant’s body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy revealed a head injury and fractures. The death was ruled a homicide.

On March 3, homicide detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Matasaran. The following day, March 4, officers from the Montgomery County Police Task Force and the U.S. Marshals Capital Regional Task Force apprehended him at his workplace in Bladensburg.
