Police confirmed that the incident occurred Tuesday afternoon in a residential neighborhood in Montgomery Village and is currently being investigated as an accidental firearm discharge involving a child.
Officers with the Montgomery County Police Department responded at approximately 2:45 p.m. to a home located in the 10000 block of Maple Leaf Drive following reports of an unresponsive individual. Upon arrival, first responders, including fire department personnel, discovered the young boy suffering from what authorities described as an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the face. Emergency crews immediately began performing CPR in an attempt to save the child’s life. Despite their efforts, the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
