Montgomery Region cops arrested the suspect, 47-year-old Junior Michael Reece, and billed him with a hate criminal offense.

A rabbi, out for a stroll Monday morning in Wheaton, Maryland, was struck by a male swinging a wooden stake.

Montgomery County police jailed the suspect and billed him with a hate criminal offense.

Police said the unknown rabbi was walking on the sidewalk on Arcola Method, near Kemp Mill Roadway, a couple of mins prior to 10 a.m., when he was approached by a guy who struck him with the wooden stake, then left the area.

The rabbi experienced small injuries.

Police discovered the suspect, 47-year-old Junior Michael Reece, close by, and took him into custody.

Reece, of no fixed address, was charged with felony attack, along with violation assault, and an added offense which says a criminal activity was dedicated “due to another’s race, shade, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, or national beginning.”

According to a police spokeswoman Casandra Tressler: “Declarations that the suspect made after the apprehension, the place of the attack, and the clothes of the victim are the reasons for this being explored as a hate criminal activity.”

In an initial hearing on Tuesday, Reece was gotten held without bond and to undertake an expertise examination before a bond hearing next week.
