Authorities confirmed that a 13-year-old girl from Kentucky who had been missing for more than two months was safely located in Montgomery County, Maryland, over the weekend. The discovery brought relief to her family after weeks of uncertainty and a widespread search effort.
Montgomery County police announced Saturday afternoon that Wynter Wagoner, 13, was found inside a residence in the 12000 block of Dalewood Drive in Silver Spring. Officials did not immediately release details about the conditions under which she was found, but confirmed that she was located alive. The case drew attention across state lines after Wagoner disappeared from Kentucky in mid-October.
According to the Rockcastle County Sheriff’s Office, Wagoner was last seen on October 14 in Orlando, Kentucky. Investigators previously reported that she had vanished from her foster home after being picked up early from school that day. When family members later attempted to check on her whereabouts, they discovered she was missing, prompting an urgent search.
In the weeks following her disappearance, Wagoner’s family made repeated public appeals for information, hoping someone would come forward with details that could help locate her. Her father, Dusty Wagoner, pleaded directly for his daughter to reach out, emphasizing the family’s desire to bring her home safely. To encourage tips, the family offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to her return.
Law enforcement agencies at the local and federal levels worked together on the case. Officials said the investigation involved multiple jurisdictions as they tracked possible sightings and leads, including information suggesting Wagoner had been seen outside Kentucky. The Rockcastle County Sheriff’s Office later indicated that she had last been spotted in the Orlando, Kentucky, area before the investigation expanded.
Following her recovery in Maryland, authorities announced the arrest of 37-year-old Christian Alexander Delgado. Police said Delgado was taken into custody in connection with the case and is facing a kidnapping charge filed by the Rockcastle County Sheriff’s Office. He is currently being held while awaiting extradition back to Kentucky, where the charge will be formally addressed.
Officials have not released further details about the relationship between Delgado and Wagoner or how she traveled from Kentucky to Maryland. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to piece together the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and recovery.
Law enforcement agencies praised the collaborative effort that led to Wagoner being found and emphasized the importance of public awareness and timely tips in missing-person cases. The family has not yet released a public statement, but authorities confirmed that the focus remains on ensuring the teen’s safety and well-being as the legal process continues.
