Cloudy Sunday holds temperatures in the 40s, with a slight chance of a few snowflakes

As November draws to a close, the region is set to finish the month under a blend of chilly weather, clouds, and the possibility of a wintry mix. Meteorologists reported that Sunday would bring persistent cloud cover across the D.C. area, along with occasional light showers and even a few stray snowflakes.

According to 7News First Alert Meteorologist Jordan Evans, temperatures on Sunday are expected to reach the upper 40s, though steady winds between 10 and 15 mph will make conditions feel even colder throughout the day. He noted that some residents, particularly those west of Highway 15, should not be surprised if light snow attempts to mix in with the precipitation.

By Sunday night, temperatures are forecast to drop sharply, sinking into the 20s. Officials have issued a cold weather alert for the District, which will remain active until 9 a.m. on Monday. Despite the frigid start, Monday morning is expected to feature mostly sunny skies, helping temperatures recover into the mid-40s. However, this brief improvement will be followed by yet another chance of a wintry mix heading into Tuesday.

Evans explained that Tuesday carries a higher probability for a rain-snow combination because of increased available moisture. Still, he emphasized that temperatures do not appear cold enough to produce significant winter impacts across most of the region. Early Tuesday morning could see some snowflakes, but the system is projected to transition to a cold rain by afternoon as temperatures rise to around 41 degrees.

Mid-week conditions for Wednesday and Thursday are expected to stay in the low- to mid-40s under mostly sunny skies. The colder air, however, is projected to return by Friday. Highs may only reach the upper 30s to low 40s, setting the stage for yet another potential wintry mix by the end of the week.

Extended Forecast Summary
