Bowie Police have arrested two suspects connected to a violent armed robbery that occurred last month outside Bowie High School, resulting in the recovery of stolen property and illegal firearms.
Authorities identified one of the suspects as 18-year-old Koby Allen of Upper Marlboro, while the second suspect, a 17-year-old male, has not been publicly named due to his age. Both were taken into custody following a coordinated law enforcement operation.
Incident Overview: Student Robbed at Gunpoint
According to investigators, the robbery took place on October 13, when a student was approached and held at gunpoint in front of the school building. The suspects allegedly stole the victim’s Moose Knuckles jacket, designer shoes, and $900 in cash before fleeing the scene in a stolen Acura sedan.
Police said one of the suspects fired a shot into the air as they escaped, reportedly to deter a bystander from following them. The student sustained minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital.
Police Operation and Arrests
Bowie Police confirmed that Koby Allen was arrested early Wednesday morning during the execution of a search warrant at a residence on Harry S. Truman Drive. The operation was carried out in partnership with the U.S. Marshals Service.
During the search, officers recovered the stolen Moose Knuckles jacket and shoes, along with two automatic ghost guns. One of the recovered firearms matched the weapon used during the robbery and subsequent non-contact shooting, police said.
The 17-year-old suspect was arrested separately and is being charged as an adult.
Charges Filed
Both suspects face multiple charges, including:
-
First-degree assault
-
Armed robbery
-
Use of a firearm in a violent crime
-
Second-degree assault
Police officials emphasized that the investigation remains active as detectives continue to gather evidence.
Community Response and Police Statement
Bowie Police Chief Dwayne Preston commended the swift efforts of the officers involved and reinforced the department’s commitment to school and community safety.
“Any crime that happens around a school is something that simply won’t be tolerated. We worked this case tirelessly to bring justice and peace to the community,” said Chief Preston.
He also advised parents and students to be cautious about wearing high-value luxury clothing or accessories, such as Moose Knuckles jackets, which can make young people potential targets for theft.
About the Investigation
The recovered Moose Knuckles jacket, valued at up to $1,600, marked a key breakthrough in the ongoing investigation. Both suspects remain in custody as the case proceeds through the court system.
Law enforcement continues to encourage anyone with additional information to contact the Bowie Police Department.
