A Prince George’s County man has received a decades-long prison sentence in connection with a fatal incident that occurred earlier this year in Landover. According to officials, 19-year-old Raymond C. Terry III has been sentenced to 50 years in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Investigators say the incident took place in February inside a vehicle occupied by Terry, 26-year-old Vincent Fisher III, and another individual who was not harmed. Authorities reported that Fisher died as a result of the encounter, leading to Terry’s arrest and subsequent prosecution. The plea agreement was announced by the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors noted that Fisher had been involved in community mentorship efforts and had previously provided guidance to Terry. State’s Attorney Tara Jackson said the case was significant due to Fisher’s role in supporting youth in the area and emphasized the importance of accountability in serious criminal matters.
Fisher’s mother, Divina Fisher, shared remarks ahead of the sentencing, highlighting her son’s dedication to helping young people in the community. She stated that she intends to continue advocating in his memory.
During the proceedings, concerns were also raised about Maryland’s Second Look Act, a state law that allows individuals convicted between the ages of 18 and 25 to request a sentence review after serving at least 20 years. Members of the Fisher family expressed interest in closely monitoring any future developments related to the law.
The case has drawn significant attention within Prince George’s County, as community members and officials continue ongoing discussions about public safety, youth support programs, and efforts to prevent future violence. Authorities emphasize that they remain committed to addressing the underlying issues that contribute to such incidents.
