On October 23, 2025, at approximately 9:59 a.m., authorities confirmed the arrest of 23-year-old D’Angelo E. Bland of Ashburn, Virginia, in connection with a firearm-related incident that occurred in Leesburg earlier in the month. Bland was apprehended on Monday, October 20, following an extensive investigation into a shooting that took place on October 1 in the 700 block of East Market Street.
According to law enforcement officials, the incident involved the discharge of a firearm in a public area, prompting an immediate response from Leesburg Police and later assistance from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators worked for several weeks to identify the suspect believed to be involved in the shooting, ultimately leading to Bland’s arrest. Authorities have not disclosed whether any individuals were injured during the event but confirmed that the shots were fired across a roadway and in a public setting, heightening the seriousness of the offense.
Following his arrest, Bland was charged with several felony and misdemeanor offenses. These charges include attempted malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, brandishing a firearm, and discharging a firearm in public and across a roadway. Each of these charges carries significant legal penalties, reflecting the gravity of the alleged actions and Bland’s prior criminal record.
Authorities stated that Bland is currently being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center while awaiting further court proceedings. The decision to hold him without bond was based on the severity of the charges and his prior conviction, which legally prohibits him from possessing a firearm. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office continues to assist Leesburg Police in the ongoing investigation. Officials have emphasized that additional information may be released as the case progresses, underscoring their continued commitment to public safety and community awareness.
