Firefighters Report Propane Tank Explosions During Bladensburg Fire

Bladensburg, Md – Firefighters responded to a large fire and explosion at a two-story warehouse in Bladensburg on Tuesday evening, quickly working to bring the flames under control.

Emergency crews were called to the 5100 block of Lawrence Place around 8 p.m., where they discovered that the fire had originated outside the building before spreading inside.

During the incident, several large propane tanks exploded, according to officials, though they confirmed that the tanks were not the cause of the blaze.

Images from the scene showed intense flames and heavy smoke rising above a nearby tree line.

As of 8:47 p.m., no injuries had been reported, and firefighters had extinguished the fire by approximately 9:30 p.m.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and officials have not yet released further details about what may have started it.
