FREDERICK, Md. — A Pennsylvania man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for drug-related convictions, which he will serve consecutively with a prior sentence for domestic assault and violating a protective order.
On Monday, in Frederick County Circuit Court, 46-year-old Jerome Mario Britton was sentenced to 20 years for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, and an additional 10 years for possessing and intending to distribute a mixture of fentanyl and heroin. These convictions followed a jury trial held on March 28, 2025.
Prosecutors said Britton was arrested on September 4, 2024, after Frederick Police were alerted by authorities in Carroll Township, Pennsylvania, that he was traveling to Frederick with narcotics purchased in Harrisburg. A traffic stop was conducted, and a police K9 alerted to the presence of drugs. A search of Britton revealed 15 baggies of fentanyl-heroin mix (9.4 grams) and 11 baggies of cocaine (2.3 grams).
Britton will serve this new sentence in addition to the 13.5-year prison term handed down after a separate jury conviction on March 20, 2025, for domestic assault and violating a protective order.
“This individual is the very definition of a repeat offender, with a criminal history spanning three decades,” said State’s Attorney Charlie Smith. “These significant, consecutive sentences reflect the outstanding work of the Frederick Police Department and our Domestic Violence and Narcotics Units.”
