Saturday Showers Forecast for D.C. Area as Power Restoration Continues

Although Friday night’s storms have mostly passed and major roads have reopened, a few residual effects remain.

7News First Alert Meteorologist Jordan Evans told WTOP that the worst of the stormy weather is over, though there is still a slight chance for additional showers.

“Severe weather risk is much lower today,” Evans said. “But it’s not zero. Expect scattered showers and a few storms this afternoon, with the possibility that some could still be strong.”

He mentioned that while lightning and hail could occur Saturday evening, both are unlikely.

Conditions are expected to improve significantly by Saturday night, with lower humidity and a drop in temperatures to cooler-than-normal levels.

“It’ll be a chilly start Sunday morning,” Evans noted. “But the afternoon looks sunny and dry.”

A wind advisory was in effect for the Bay Bridge on Saturday morning, according to a Maryland Transportation Authority post on X (formerly Twitter).

BGE reported power outages affecting dozens in Howard and Anne Arundel counties, with nearly 900 customers without electricity in the Baltimore region as of Saturday morning.

In Northern Virginia, Dominion Energy reported over 1,500 outages in Fairfax County and nearby areas. Pepco also noted about 200 customers in D.C. were without power.
