Driver Dies After Crashing Into Utility Pole in Silver Spring

SILVER SPRING, Md. — Montgomery County crash investigators report that a woman who died in a single-vehicle crash Sunday night in Silver Spring was not wearing a seatbelt. Authorities are still working to determine what caused her to veer off the road and strike a utility pole.

The crash occurred around 10:40 p.m. in the 10400 block of Colesville Road near Southwood Avenue. First responders arrived to find a 2022 black Kia Telluride that had collided with a utility pole.

The driver, identified as 34-year-old Osbelia Minh of Silver Spring, was alone in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe Minh was traveling south on Colesville Road when, for reasons still unknown, she left the roadway and crashed. She was not wearing a seatbelt, which contributed to her fatal injuries.

No other vehicles were involved, and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact Montgomery County’s Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.
