Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division have arrested 56-year-old Carl Otis Lowery of Silver Spring for a string of commercial robberies in Montgomery County and nearby areas.
The investigation revealed that on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, around 8:15 p.m., Lowery entered a Chipotle in the 10500 block of Connecticut Ave. After ordering food, he displayed a handgun and demanded the employee open the cash register. When the employee did not comply, Lowery left empty-handed.
Later that evening, at approximately 8:51 p.m., Lowery entered an Advanced Auto Parts store in the 2280 block of Bel Pre Rd. in Silver Spring. After asking for help finding a specific item, he approached the counter, displayed a black handgun, and demanded cash. He then forced employees to the back of the store before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money.
On February 4, 2025, around 7:18 p.m., Lowery targeted a Montgomery County Liquor Store in the 11400 block of Georgia Avenue. He approached the counter, showed a handgun, and demanded the cash register be opened. Lowery took an undisclosed amount of cash before leaving the store.
During their investigation, detectives identified Lowery as the suspect and linked him to multiple armed robberies in nearby jurisdictions throughout January and February 2025.
An arrest warrant was issued, charging Lowery with several counts of armed robbery and related offenses.
On Thursday, February 13, authorities located and arrested Lowery on Atwood Court in Silver Spring. He was taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is being held without bond.
