Six people — including a 5-year-old girl — were hospitalized following a mass shooting in Baltimore, Maryland, on Saturday night.
Police said the incident occurred just after 8:45 p.m. near the intersection of Spaulding and Queensbury avenues in Northwest Baltimore. Responding officers found four adult men, one woman, and the young girl suffering from gunshot wounds. All were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
According to Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley, the child was shot in the hand and is expected to recover from what appears to be a minor injury.
One victim, a 38-year-old man, remains in critical condition and underwent surgery. The other four adult victims — ranging in age from 23 to 52 — and the child are believed to have non-life-threatening injuries, police told WTOP.
Investigators are still working to determine the motive. “It appeared that some people were sitting outside on the porch eating crabs, and someone just opened fire,” Worley said.
Police are urging anyone with information to contact them at 410-396-2455.
This is a developing story.
